Carolyn Dew - Photographic Artist - Artist as Curator
I studied photography at undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne. Early in my working life, I was employed as a preservation photographer at the State Library of Victoria and experienced the photograph as a cultural artifact contextualized by social and cultural history. This perspective remains present in my photos, which document the personal and cultural practices expressed in our everyday environments, and the taming and replacement of our natural world with representation and artifice. I currently live in the regional Australian city of Bendigo on Dja Dja Wurrung country.
