Collaborations with Rhys Jones

Meadow of Lost Trees

Carolyn Dew (Rhys Jones), 2020, Hand-coloured Silver Gelatin Print

This work is a tribute to the memory of Rhys Jones. It is a strange and final collaboration that acknowledges a shared life and love for photography and the natural world. One of the last negatives Rhys produced, a work in progress left on the light table, that he never could return to and that I have finished. The original hand-coloured photograph was exhibited in Bendigo in early 2020, alongside a selection of his photos, in an exhibition dedicated to his memory.

This book makes me happy and sad. On the 25th of February 2019 my dear buddy in all things photography and everyday life, Rhys Jones, passed away suddenly while out bushwalking. He loved to be amongst the trees and behind his camera.
